Children's Privacy Notice
Effective date: 4 August 2026 Last updated: 7 August 2026
PracticeBuds exists so that a parent or teacher can print good practice material for a child. Children are the reason the site exists — which is exactly why we have built it so that we collect nothing about them.
This notice explains our approach under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and comparable laws elsewhere.
PracticeBuds is operated by Root and Rise Enterprises, House No. 499, Sector 31, Gurgaon, Haryana 122001, India.
1. Two definitions of "child"
Different countries draw the line differently. Rather than apply the weakest standard, we apply the strictest one that reaches us:
- India (DPDP Act, 2023): a child is anyone under 18
- United States (COPPA): a child is anyone under 13
We comply with both. Where the two rules differ, we follow whichever gives greater protection to the child.
2. PracticeBuds is built for adults to use
We design and market PracticeBuds to parents, guardians, tutors, homeschoolers and teachers. Adults are the ones who select skills, configure grade filters, preview worksheets and click print.
- Children use our worksheets on paper, away from screens, apps and trackable software.
- The website has no user accounts, no chat, no comments, no profile pages, no uploads, no games, no social features and no direct messaging.
- There is no field anywhere on the site into which a person is asked — or able — to type a child's name, age, birthdate, school, class or progress.
- No advertising currently runs on PracticeBuds — no ad networks, ad servers, sponsored content or remarketing. If we introduce advertising, this notice will be updated first and we will comply with the consent rules that apply.
3. What we collect when you browse
When an adult visits PracticeBuds, standard web technologies operate as described in our main Privacy Policy:
- Transient server logs: your IP address, browser type and page requested are processed briefly by our hosting provider (Vercel) to deliver the page, maintain security and block malicious traffic. These are deleted automatically.
- Local browser storage: your chosen grade selection is saved in your browser (
playworld_grade) so you do not have to pick it again on every page. It is stored on your device only, is never sent to our servers, and contains no information about who uses the device. - Optional website analytics: if you consent via our cookie banner, Google Analytics counts overall visits and popular pages.
4. How we satisfy COPPA (United States)
COPPA applies to websites directed to children under 13, or that knowingly collect personal information from them. PracticeBuds is directed to parents and teachers, not children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Specifically:
- We do not collect names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, SSNs, photos, audio, video or precise geolocation from children.
- We do not collect persistent identifiers to track children across sites or over time. The analytics cookie we use evaluates aggregate site performance under COPPA's "support for internal operations" exception.
- How we ensure they are not used for anything else: no advertising runs on PracticeBuds at present; advertising features, ad personalization signals, cross-device signals and remarketing are disabled in our analytics configuration; user-ID and cross-device tracking are off; analytics data is not exported to any advertising platform or data broker; these identifiers are not used to contact, recognize or profile any individual; and analytics data is deleted automatically after 14 months.
- No behavioural advertising, profiling or retargeting is performed.
- We do not condition a child's participation on disclosing more information than necessary — in fact, we require no information at all.
5. How we satisfy India's DPDP Act, 2023
Under Section 9 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, a Data Fiduciary must not undertake processing of personal data that is likely to cause any detrimental effect on the well-being of a child, nor undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children.
Our compliance:
- Zero tracking or behavioural monitoring of children. Worksheets are printed and completed offline. We have no mechanism to track a child's learning speed, mistakes, device usage or online activity.
- Zero targeted advertising. We serve no targeted ads to anyone, adult or child.
- No detrimental processing. We process no personal data of children, period.
- Adult-oriented Data Fiduciary relationship. Our relationship is with the adult parent or teacher who accesses the site.
6. Parents' and Guardians' rights
If you believe your child has provided personal information to PracticeBuds, you may:
- Review what was collected (if anything)
- Direct us to delete that information immediately
- Refuse to allow any further collection or use
How to exercise these rights
Email rootandrise.hq@gmail.com with the subject line "Children's Privacy Request". Tell us roughly what was submitted and when. We will verify that you are the child's parent or guardian proportionately to the request, act on it, and confirm in writing when it is done. There is no charge, and we will not condition your child's use of PracticeBuds on your providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
7. Third-party services running on PracticeBuds
We have reviewed every third-party service that runs on PracticeBuds. The complete list, with every cookie, is in Section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
At present no advertising network, ad exchange, social media pixel, session-recording tool, heat-mapping tool or data broker operates on PracticeBuds. Before adding any new third-party service we will assess what it collects, update our policies, and put in place whatever notice and consent the law requires.
8. When accounts or subscriptions are introduced
If we introduce optional user accounts in the future:
- PracticeBuds will remain an adults-only service. Sign-up will require confirmation that you are 18 or over, consistent with our Terms of Use and with the DPDP Act's definition of a child.
- Parents may save custom worksheet presets or preferences under their adult account.
- We will not create accounts for children, nor collect profiles, usernames or dates of birth for children.
9. Schools, teachers and tutors
PracticeBuds is offered directly to individual adults. We do not operate as a school service provider, we do not receive student records, and no student data of any kind reaches us.
If a school or school district chooses to adopt PracticeBuds for classroom printing, teachers may print worksheets under our standard adult terms. No FERPA-covered student records or COPPA-covered school consents are required because no student personal data is collected or processed.
